ars technica has a nice NYC tour piece by Nate Anderson posted relating to flagship stores for consumer electronics brands. Very well written. Here’s an bit of the Apple on 5th section:

“Let’s put it out there right away: Apple’s Fifth Avenue location is the hippest flagship store in New York. Positively glowing with RDF (Apple’s well-known Reality Distortion Field), the translucent cube commands a precious bit of real estate just beside FAO Schwarz on the busiest shopping street in the city. How many people want to get in the door? Just look at the store hours: it’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
