If you thought the era of the £3 jean was just a passing trend, think again, the Telegraph suggests. Value clothing chains are slowly taking over the high street, driving down prices and causing the womenswear market to face one of its toughest years on record.

A report out this week shows that low cost Primark, which started life with one outlet in Dublin in 1969, is due to overtake the market share of department store group Debenhams.
