As Britain seems to be getting warmer and warmer each year (yesterday broke July records!!), it maybe time to see the resurgence of the Lido – communal outdoor pools made popular in the 1920s and 30s. The Guardian wrote a detailed review of the remaining Lidos at the weekend and Gridskipper points to ‘Dive In Movies’ – where Lidos show films while the audience drift on their inflatables on the pool.

Inspiration to make things better.
having just moved to london fields in east london – imagine my delight when i heard that a 50m lido was being built for the summer. the eternally useless hackney council, fresh from taking several years to build clissold park leisure centre which had to be shut down weeks after opening, have just announced that the outdoor pool will be opening in november. coincidence that this was announced AFTER the local election? corruption is rife. welcome to my hood.
