Apple’s iChat Mobile

by Piers Fawkes

apple iphoneOk, ok, so there’s been so much speculation about an Apple mobile phone for about ever - and we assume that Apple did get to a point once when they were going to launch the phone but then Jonathan Ive probably had a look, thought it was pants, scrapped it and started again. Anyway: now, the blogosphere is wondering whether Jobs will announce the phone at the the WWDC event in a few days. Engadget says:

The predominant rumor is that the iPhone is what we’re going to get from it. Apple knows we want it, and we know they’re working on it. Hell, at this point the only mystery is why they’re bothering to keep it such a secret, but so long as they’re withholding it from the general public, we’re going to be invariably baited into running possibly-photoshopped images of what could be ads depicting the device everyone’s been waiting for. According to this particular rendition it’s going to be called iChat Mobile (clever, right?).

Which is kind clever - even if it’s a fake - as connects Apple’s IM app to the new product - and IM rather than voice is a growing use of the phone.
