I’ve always loved this film and first saw it about 15 years ago.
It was made in 1976 by Claude Lelouch and has been remastered numerous times. Wikipedia has a good history of it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C‘était_un_rendez-vous

I’m suprised you don’t know about this. There is so much history to this short film. It’s rumored that the driver was actually a professional racer. The director (Claude) was arrested at the premier of the film. Sucha great story.
