It was only the other day when the PSFK teamsters were chatting about whether heavy tattooing has gone mainstream. So many people seem to be have their sleeves these days, that we kinda feel left out. But we couldn’t make our minds up: maybe it was just a New York thing.
Anyway, maybe we’re going to see a growth in the interest in tattoos with the story in the Sun that ‘claims’ that Lindsay Lohan is to set up a posh tattoo parlor to sell tatts to her celeb friends:
Lindsay is setting up her own tattoo place which will be like a trendy, glass-fronted fashion store. She will work on her own designs and will market it to young society people.

I don’t think it is just a NY thing. I have recently moved to California and have noticed that most people in the 18-35 age bracket have a tattoo – be they professionals or bike messengers. It is interesting that this form of self expression preceded any of the web 2.0 technology that people now use for the same purpose.
