Lost Doctor Who Episodes Animated
The latest Doctor Who reincarnations has been a great success for the BBC, but earlier this year whilst rooting through the archives, they discovered four of the episodes featuring the Cybermen and second Doctor Patrick Troughton, were missing.
Fortunately, they had the audio and soundtrack so commissioned animation studio Cosgrove Hall to reanimate the episodes-in black and white. Lead Animator Steve Maher:
Working in Black and White animation is dramatic and graphic, it gave us the opportunity to employ the kind of noir lighting that only really works without colour. It’s a slightly surreal experience using digital technology to recreate the visual qualities inherent in a TV show from 1968 but a treat was Patrick Troughton’s Doctor – he has a wonderfully animatable face so he was a gift. With the history and following the Doctor has – the whole project has been a bit of a special treat
The DVD will be available in November-check out the 30 second teaser here.
