In response to a “we’re greener than you” shouting match amongst competing grocers, Tesco is
looking to sharpen their eco image as part of 10 point community plan to become more environmentally friendly is unveiled.
The UK’s largest Grocer is planning to offer incentives for customers who reuse their shopping bags by offering clubcard points for every bag saved.
“Clubcard points can then be redeemed at face value in Tesco stores or exchanged for ‘Clubcard Deals’ and get up to four times their face value on a range of offers, from magazine subscriptions to holidays.”
The green-scheme will also include beefing up existing bags to encourage
re-use as well as using
biodegradable materials. They hope to cut back the overall number of bags down by 25% over the next two years.
