With TV audiences dropping to all time lows and the number of hours we spend watching TV also dropping, advertisers are having to find a new way to push their wares onto us. The seismic shift onto the internet has pointed out where TVs audience has gone now advertisers are trying to work out how to target people and in particular the youth market.

Ironically one of the instruments of TV’s downfall, YouTube, has come to the rescue. Yesterday it announced that advertisers could have their own ‘channels’ within the YouTube site. First up will be the Paris Hilton Channel which will contain video ads and music videos and is sponsored by Prison Break!

‘Advertisers will be able to customize the look and feel of their channels once they meet pre-determined spending quotas. YouTube cofounder and CEO Chad Hurley is quoted as saying he hopes brand channels help build an ad platform that “both the community and advertisers” could embrace.’
