BBC Creative Archive

By Henry Lambert on September 21, 2006

The BBC, that venerable British institution, has once again placed itself at the centre of the broadcasting revolution. It has already placed a large chunk of its archives online so that viewers can download them and manipulate them. Now it is planning to co-operate with other broadcasters and programme makers to provide an even more varied and considerably larger digital archive of programmes. A new service called Creative Archive UK could be produced with audio and video footage from the BBC, the British Film Institute, the British Library, Channel 4, ITN and the Open University.

The BBC’s creative archive is already a fantastic tool for finding inspiration and a larger and more varied collection can only be a good thing.
