By Guy Brighton on September 25, 2006

Last week, on the second day of the Clinton Global Initiative, the annual conference hosted by  Bill Clinton, Richard Branson commited all profits from his travel firms, including those from Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Train over the next ten years to help fight global warming.

The funds will be invested in schemes to develop new
renewable energy technologies, through an investment unit called Virgin
Fuels.

Sir Richard, 56, said that transport and energy
companies "must be at the forefront of developing environmentally
friendly business strategies".
