Well scientists are using this as a basis of their designs for the ‘rolled-up screen’. The Cambridge team is led by Dr Seffen from the Department of Engineering:
Flexible electronics is a burgeoning area, people are looking into making very thin flexible displays that could be used for electronic newspapers, or other portable electronic media like a roll-up laptop or compact mobile phone.
There is no indication or prediction of when such technology would be available though, but the applications of such a development would be huge.
