Site Visit: Samsonite Black Label

The first Samsonite Black Label shop opened this week on Madison Ave and 70th. Black Label’s product line is targeted towards an on the go, design sensitive customer. Similar to who Tumi goes after.

Previously, Black Label was only sold through other retailers, but Samsonite is rolling out a US store chain to sell direct. Probably the most coveted items are in the Scope collection. Scope is a line by famed Australian designer, Marc Newson.

The Madison Ave location is the first US store with San Francisco and Boston soon to follow. It’s a small space that extensively uses black fixturing and orange lighting. Shoes and accessories are displayed in architectural platforms and cases.
