Starwood has completed the build of its Aloft concept in Second Life and invited residents of the world to come by and check out the new hotel. Brighton Giugiaro went down there to report for PSFK’s IF!

Aloft in SL is built as a resort – there’s a pool and deck outside the hotel. A little bit further out there’s a mini-marina, although we’re not too sure that would be replicated in real life. The blue-yellow strip affect is used throughout the hotel – on walls, the tents and even the life guard huts.
Inside the hotel there’s a lot of space for socialising: a long straight bar where we picked up a Daquiri, a fireplace where you can read old crime novels, more seats to lounge on – and even a pool table.
There seems to be some element of self service here. We’d guess that instead of dining, there would be an area where guests can come by and pick up donuts, fruits and drinks. In the corner, this hotel was offering blue lunch bags for sale – maybe the real Aloft will offer busy road warriors a breakfast they can eat on their travels?
There was also a vending machine we bought headphones from. Maybe the real Aloft will sell many more items using self-serve machines.
Interesting reading in Aloft rooms – including Ready Made magazines.
Pretty spacious. But then again SL is not New York. Over on the far left corner is a glazed window through to the shower… Who’s that guy in the white top? Ooops. Don’t tell the missus!
More people join the room… I’ve seen this scene before in a movie somewhere…
Aloft fly over!
