beatport podcast advances music buying experience

By Dave Pinter on October 13, 2006

I have a rule about podcasts, I don’t take them seriously until they get past the 10 episode hurdle. I’ve been keeping an eye on the podcast from online electronic music site beatport called Burners. A couple of features make it really nice. First and most obvious, it is distributed through iTunes. The show features a cross secction of new releases mixed together, so it’s really like listening to a dj set.

The show also makes use of the chapters feature in iTunes. The show is divided up and you can browse individual tracks using the chapters pull down in the iTunes menu bar.

As each track plays, the cover art is displayed. Underneath the cover art is a ‘buy now’ button that links you directly to the beatport site where you can purchase the digital files. This makes it so easy and there is no extra time spent searching through a site from scratch.

The only issue with the podcast is the frequency is produced. It would be nice to see this released twice a month. Sign up for it here. (iTunes required)
