BP and DaimlerChrysler have opened up a new hydrogen fueling station in South East Michigan. The station was constructed as part a field test by the Department of Energy assessing the possibility of a larger hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Apparently there are already five other hydrogen fueling stations in the Detroit area, with that number likely to double in the near future.
According to H2stations.org, a nifty site that has mapped out hydrogen fueling stations around the world, the mid West is on the brink of becoming a hydrogen hot bed. Just in Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas there are approximately a dozen stations in the works; far more than any other region in America or the world for that matter. However, the accuracy of the map is still uncertain.
