Carnival of Modern Man: More Shaving

Last week we posted about the Art of Shaving’s new campaign trying to convince men to spend forty-dollars on ingrown night cream and fancy shaving kits, but the battle to win over new shavers may not be about converting Marlboro men into metrosexuals at all.   The real battle in men’s shaving may be between blades vs. buzzers – feel vs. efficiency.  Two of the bloggers taking part in our Carnival of Modern Man project justify their allegiance to one method over the other while commenting on Hitachi’s new electric razor.

Apparently, the folks at Hitachi think the only thing keeping us blade users from switching to electric is the way our current razor feels in our hand. Count me in as someone who’ll pass. I use a blade because I like the feel of the shave better. I like the feel of my face after a shave better (and so do my wife and daughter) and, I guess, I enjoy the traditional ritual of it.

I haven’t been able to find a price for it, but if it’s around $50 I bet a lot of people will give it a shot…

My main problem with the traditional blade is that you have to be standing in front of the mirror. I’d rather multitask and use an electric while I’m doing something else.
