Catwalk Round-ups
For great, succinct summaries from the catwalks of London, Paris and Milan fashion weeks and a review of the recent impressive Stockholm Fashion Week, read the new issue of the JC Report. We love their analysis and think you will too. Here’s a taster-
"There was a clear divide between established and new designers during London fashion week. With the return of ’70s designer labels Biba and Zandra Rhodes, and the Emporio Armani show/extravaganza, there were high expectations amongst hot young things such as Christopher Kane and Clare Tough. Although some were anti-climactic, most had strong and impressive collections. As for the debate about skinny models running throughout London fashion week, it’s clear where London designers stand. For s/s ‘07 it’s about having fun — and showing off your curves"
"Where is fashion heading next? Judging from the conflicting messages that emerged from the s/s ‘07 Milan collections, it’s either towards naive sweetness — just call it the Chloè aftermath — or blatant, in-your-face sensuality, with whiffs of the groundbreaking visions of Thierry Mugler and the late, great Gianni Versace. In other words, nowhere particularly new. Blown-up volumes, shades of beige, a sprinkle of black, and metallic shine were all high on the design agenda. Yet still, too often, the aftertaste felt retro. For the moment, looking fashionably forward is still centered on looking back."
