Demo Tapes No More
EMI music label Parlophone has been trailing a new online system where new artists are invited to upload their demo tracks virtually rather than licking that stamp and sending them in via tapes.
The three month trial is now going to be integrated into daily operations. Nigel Coxon, head of A&R at Parlophone:
One of our top priorities in A&R is to keep our talent spotting process as efficient and up to date as possible. The new system will allow us to do just that, while at the same time helping us stay committed to giving anyone the opportunity to be heard.
The option also allows bands to upload pictures as well, although you have to ask the question, surely this should have been done earlier?
