The perception tends to be that gamers are spotty teenagers holed up in their bedrooms playing Halo or Grand Theft Auto for hours on end. Well some new research from a UK youth research agency contradicts this wide held belief.

Dubit, a youth research and communications agency from Leeds, have produced some research that suggests that its actually those over the age of 20 that are putting the hours in with their games consoles. Dubit comment:

“There’s a definite squeeze going on in teenage leisure – and both cinema and gaming have suffered at the hands of the internet, which is effectively the console for today’s gamer. The 12 plus hours that young people now spend online must have been available for traditional gaming to play its part in free time, alongside TV, cinema – sport even.”
