A new system in the UK will get lost and stolen phones screaming if someone tries to use it. The Remote XT links mobile phones directly to a secure remote server which stores all their phone numbers, text messages and e-mails, the Sun says:
If the owner is mugged or realises that their phone has been taken they can dial a 24-hour call centre and have it registered as stolen. The system also disables the handset itself so it can’t be used even if the thief removes the internal SIM card.
