If you were to have an educated guess at the MySpace audience you’d probably think that they were aged between 14 and 24 right?
Well you’d be wrong. The latest data from comScore suggests that the majority of MySpace’s visitors are now 35 or older and the sites demographic profile is becoming older and older. In fact 51.6% of MySpace visitors are over 35.
comScore report that:
“The most significant shift has occurred among teens 12-17, who accounted for 24.7 percent of the MySpace audience in August 2005, but today represent a much lower 11.9 percent of the site’s total audience.”
Apparently MySpace have confirmed these facts. However, lets not get too excited. The Guardian comments:
“There probably still is a difference between active users and unique visitors. Parents, for example, are generally obliged to open a MySpace account just to be able to see what their kids are doing online, but they probably never use the account for anything else.”
