Photosynth

by Guy Brighton

Photosynth
Even though I’m a Mac-man I’m very impressed by this new development from the boffins over at the Microfsoft Live Labs.

Photosynth enables the user to ‘walk through’ digital photos in the database and explore the virtual and 3D worlds they create. It’s about collating and mashing images of the same place, building or thing and then making that ‘come alive’ on screen and giving the viewer total control over navigation.

Not sure if this will turn into a programme you’ll have to buy or it will be open source with additional paid for features like Google Earth - impressive!

Check out the video to get a better visual sense of the project.
