As the iPod continues to dominate the portable music industry, overall sales for Apple are expected to soar this holiday season thanks to their entertaining “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” TV commercials which have successfully promoted the companies user-friendly qualities.
In addition to their clever commercials, Apple has effectively won over a substantial number of PC users with iPods. Significant numbers of Microsoft users who purchased iPods over the last few years are coming back and buying Apple computers this season.
According to market research company IDC,
shipments of Macintosh computers rose 33 percent this year, almost triple the 12 percent rise in overall U.S. sales of personal computers.
While there are warnings that Apple may not be able to maintain their current growth in coming years, sales are still expected to peak this holiday season. Just this year there has been a 500 percent increase in iPod sales and a 40 percent increase in Mac computers compared to last year’s holiday buying frenzy.
In any case, with their stock nearly back to its all-time high, Apple is clearly going to have a good Christmas this year.
