British Fashion Awards 2006

by Amanda Gore (PSFK London)

Last night the great and good of the British fashion world congregated at the V&A for the British Fashion Awards 2006. Prize of the night went to Giles Deacon who was named Designer of the Year, with other awards going to Marios Schwab for New Designer, Stuart Vevers at Mulberry for Accessory Designer, B Store who picked up Shop of the Year for its fabulous new Saville Row location, Kim Jones for Menswear Designer, and the BFC fashion enterprise award (which helps fund collections for a year) given to Jonathan Saunders.

The most controversial award of the night however was won by  a certain Ms Moss who was named Model of the Year. Definitely one for the WTF files, after a year of scandal, rebellion and rehab, far from being ostracised Kate was awarded for her ‘professional efforts’. The Guardian has a good article debating both sides of the story, but fashion.psfk still believe the accolade should have gone to either Erin O’Connor or Alek Wek who are both far more deserving of the title for all the positive press they bring to the industry. Please someone remove Kate Moss from the front page for at least a day!
