Good Vibes

As female empowerment goes exercise is not normally the primary vehicle, but with a background rife in enriching women’s lifestyles and confidence levels Nahid de Belgeonne has set up Good Vibes Power Plates studio which aims to do just that.

Among other previous incarnations Nahid set up Sauce – a stylish sexy photography service for women, and was one of the three founding members of Scarlet magazine – the first mainstream mid-shelf sex magazine catering to women, now sold across the high street. Her newest venture however, integrates this building of self-esteem in a more subtle setting and with a more personalised approach.

The new ‘it’ product on the fitness scene, the Power Plate is a vibration machine that causes your muscles to contract 30 to 50 times per second while you hold positions on the moving plates, resulting in all-over body toning with minimal time and exhaustion.

Nahid and her friendly staff of female trainers who come from a range of disciplines including yoga, dance and fitness, have purposefully moved away from intimidating corporate gyms, preferring the creative energy of the studio space where they can integrate their background knowledge to stretch the possibilities of the Power Plates technology. The space itself is light, bright and stylishly furnished, with an eclectic and uplifting mix of music on offer and temperature choices available (as well as the option of fresh mint tea), all of which add to its overall atmosphere and personality- words too long forgotten by most in the exercise industry.

Which must be why having set up the studio in London’s West End less than a month ago, Good Vibes already boasts a heavy roster of clients including ’stylists and editors from many major magazines, a YBA and a well known TV chef’ who are drawn not only to the ease and effectiveness of the Power Plates technology but to the wonderful environment that the studio radiates.

"Keeping fit should be fun and easy to schedule in and you want to see results fast – with Power-plates you really do. Impersonal gyms are not for me, I want people to feel uplifted after a visit here. I love the fact that after working out for 25 minutes you can go and get on with your day.”

A fantastic example for the future of exercise, the studio cleverly combines
personality, creativity and the opportunity to work out without
breaking a sweat.
