MSN Activism

By Ozgur Alaz on November 28, 2006

MSN Messenger is the most popular messaging platform with more than 12 million users in Turkey.  It connects its users to their friends, allows them to instant message and gives them some customization tools such as avatars and nicknames to express themselves.

The recent trend in Turkey is using MSN Messenger as an activation platform. After recent child porn scandals, a group of people in Turkey organized an MSN activation against child porn. Mail chains, forums and blogs invite people to add (X) symbol in front of their nickname.  After adding that symbol to your nickname, an icon of a small girl appears. Adding this icon makes you a part of the activation.
