A Licence to Model

Vogue.com reports today on the Italian fashion industry’s next step in the debate over super-skinny models: introducing a licence to model.

These will be issued after an assessment by the Association of Fashion Services, ASSEM, the Italian chamber of fashion, and a scientific
committee made up of doctors, nutritionists, psychologists and other
experts to ensure the girls are old enough, healthy enough and have a sufficeint Body Mass Index.

Hoping to introduce this ‘code of self-regulation’ before the next catwalk shows, it seems like Milan is one city taking this issue very seriously.
