Here’s something that we noticed on the Londonist site that is relevant to both our ‘Red Coat, Black Coat’ concept and also our ‘Battle For The Bulge’ trend: Londoners will soon be able to buy small purchases with their Oyster travel card thanks to a tie up with Visa. The system will be available in summer 2007 and offer chip-embedded card-carriers to swipe and go in stores and on the Underground.

Hey Piers,
The hook up’s actually with Barclaycard, which is causing some consternation, as the original concept was meant to be bank (brand) neutral, but ran into red tape. Be interesting to see if it drives take up of Barclaycard, or further annoys non-cardholders.
