This is a video we stumbled upon yesterday when looking at Martin Cole’s clips on YouTube. For the first minute and a half, there’s some wonderful footage where skateboarders try to explain why they do it. Inspirational.

i did an ethnography project a couple of years ago with younger skaters and the way that a 9 or 10 year old describes the feeling of skating or why they skate is exactly the same. it is great to hear that skaters who have been at it for years still get the same feelings of freedom, self-expression, community etc. that they felt when they first started to ride.

this line is Portuguese, I’m from Brazil…and the translation is:
“Skate in the veins”
