A new service called Promonet is giving bloggers the ability to browse through a catalog of hundreds of thousands of releases online and legally post MP3s on their blogs (or use the tracks in podcasts).
By logging into Promomet you can download and legally share thousands of mp3s through your blog or podcast. Their goal is to introduce great independent music to fans that want to help tell the world about it. To do this, they have struck a deal with all IODA labels (independent online distribution alliance) to make their music available legally for fans to discover, review, download, podcast, or otherwise promote. They also provide thousands of previews, full length MP3s, photos, bios, links so people can help spread the word about independent music.
Their site says:
Independent labels respect and trust their fans; they know that music fans want to support the artists that they love. Promonet gives fans a way to do exactly that.
Joining Promonet is totally free. Because IODA is also a digital distributor, they personally benefit from digital sales that are generated through buy links on blogs and podcasts.
