Fuel Cell Dock for your Laptop

by Jeff Squires

Samsung is rearing to unveil a fuel cell dock that is capable of charging your laptop for an entire month.  While it’s likely that the docking station probably won’t be able to power some of the larger computers available, there should be ample juice for most laptops to go all month long.  The noise level of docking station has also been reduced to that of a normal notebook computer, which has previously held back commercialization.

Samsung is claiming their fuel cell has 650Wh/L making it have about four times the energy density as competing offerings. Supposedly a mini version of the dock that holds a tea cup worth of fuel is in the works that will provide 15 hours of run time. Could 2007 be the year of the fuel cell?
