Where do you come up with your best ideas?
We need your help, gang. Behind these sites, we run some consultancy services around trends and ideas – and this work basically pays for the sites to run. Sometimes we need a little more consultancy, so we got our friends Beau and Ross to concept us an advertising campaign or two.
For the concept below, they’ve suggested a series of ads that show photos of places where people come up with their best ideas – and then sort of suggest that you can find moments of inspirations with PSFK Services. Nice idea, no?
But where are these places? And where do we get the photos from?
We’d love to run a Flickr Hunt to find places you, the reader, come up with your best ideas. Our favorites we’ll run in our advertising* and in response we’ll give you credit and a link to your site. Maybe we’ll do a weekly review too, for fun.
So:
1. Would you share some photos with us of the places you come up with your best ideas?
2. Upload them to Flickr
3. Add them to the Find_Inspiration group
4. The more info and tags the better for everyone watching
5. We’ll use them and we’ll reference/link to you
6. Thank you
Any questions?
* We’re asking for a favor. If you don’t want us to run the photos in the ads, then please don’t participate. Thank you.

That sounds a bit lame, if I’m honest. Looking at the suggestions in that scamp it’s not exactly exciting – toilets and trains? The ideas are the interesting bit.

Rather than lame non-constructive comments here some thoughts.
For me inspiration and inspirational moments are very personal. My initial thought was that I would not root the inspiration to a certain location or place.
to capture this moment reminds me of dejà-vu somehow.. recollect recognize something you have already seen (the inspiration) there a this place.
but you could only show the dejà-vu in someones own point of view. (i think)
so i would rather show those places like shower, toilet, traindoor etc.. in the POV of someone. And maybe keep the imagery more blurry and abstract so that you can sense where it is (toiletpaper –> toilet etc.) more a polaroid style as you will.. (memento) hard to catch moment…
so long.. more thoughts and images to follow

I think the idea is awsome. It will be images from real life, how your work and all other sources of inspiration gives birth to peoples ideas for real.
And I think with a ‘reality’ advert like this u will reach your goal most deffinitely – get the message out that PSFK works.
I know it works for me.
Though, here’s a thought
I think there is a difference between inspirational places and ‘I have an idea’ places or a ‘lightbulb’ moment.
I can get inspiration everywhere, all the time…with new info on trends – PSFK, with new pics or designs I see, with news, with listening to music….with meeting a new person.
But there are rare moments, when a crucial idea – what I am really gonna do about it, happen.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Wa and Matthias: For me, ideas aren’t rooted to a place. They happen randomly.
If I *had* to locate them physically, it would be in the shower or while I’m walking through NYC on autopilot and letting my mind roam.

Hey. We’re not looking for the best places to find ideas. We’re just compiling a bunch of images of places we get our ideas. If it’s in the shower, or on the bog, or walking through the park – then add a photo of that place.
Glad it’s caused some discussion.
