Iconic Luxury: The $1,300 Tee

by Piers Fawkes in Fashion, Luxury

200701282330So, we gave PSFK co-founder Simon King a bell on Friday to try to give him a nudge to write a little more often on fashion.psfk. “Sorry, mate,” Simon replied. “I’ve been busy with this new shipment for Harrods.” We know some of you think that Simon King - the S & K of PSFK - doesn’t exist, but actually he just got busy with his real job as PSFK took off. Under his label LondonDenim, he sells jeans to the Japanese and customized luxe-wear to Harrods shoppers.

“Yeah,” Simon continues. “I had to check the number of Swarovski crystals on this one off T-shirt they’re going to have for sale up in Knightsbridge.”

2,700 Swarovski crystals embellish Simon’s rock-guitar designed T-Shirt. Even the guitar strings are crystals. They were all hand-arranged by Simon for the Harrods Rocks promotion in February. The T Shirt is for sale at Harrods or via his site LondonDenim.com.

We reckon that makes the T-Shirt the most expensive T Shirt ever made in the world. His other shirts go for a palty $170 each… makes us wonder if we’re in the wrong game or something.

  1. The mind boggles - so all the effort and energy getting the raw materials together for this (the crystals, cloth etc) just so some ridiculous toff can buy the most expensive t in the world….gah….

I find it somewhat amusing that you follow up the ‘less is better’ post with this.

“suburban America buys crap each and every day that is not needed”

Is it right to assume that you believe that this over-price pseudo-luxury t-shirt falls into the ‘better’ category as opposed to the ‘crap’ category? If so, I heartedly disagree.

If a $1300 tshirt is a luxury item then luxury is nothing but crap for rich folk.

  3. This is not a T-shirt, this is Haute Couture T-shirt :)

  4. All this time I thought my zypcodes Alpine T was the most expensive ($323) luxury T shirt on the market.

Now I gotta get it diamond-studded!

    IRTFW anyway.
