Power of People

TIME Magazine’s making "Us" Person of the Year and AdAge making
"The Consumer" Agency of the Year, are two more recent recognitions of
People’s Power in business and society.
Yesterday, a U.S. holiday celebrates the work of Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr., the activist and Nobel Peace Prize Winner who helped American
citizens cultivate and use their People Power for equal rights,
economic justice, racial harmony and peace.
We went to the Manhattan Country Day School’s 19th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. rally in Times Square. The event,
organized every year by the school’s 8th graders, serves to remind us
of the late King’s mission, the work we still have to do, and
everyone’s potential to make change.
I met Miranda and Savio (see
second jpeg attached), second graders at Manhattan Country Day School
who have an inspiring and impressive understanding of this holiday’s
significance and importance of Dr. King’s message of non-violence
and interracial harmony.
The assassination of Martin Luther
King and the (past, present, and future) suppression of our world’s
change agents demonstrate the awesome and terrible sacrifices those who
are
truly great make for the rest of us.
