PSFK goes to Detroit & your next car may be Russian

By Dave Pinter on January 18, 2007

PSFK will be in Detroit on Friday for our annual visit to the Auto Show. It’s been blogged about by a lot of sites already but we’re once again going to pull together a review that goes beyond the cars. We’ll be documenting the stands, looking for creative advertising, and of course looking for the next big automotive thing. Stay tuned for a massive flickr gallery.

On a side note, the automotive industry hasn’t yet replaced it’s last styling love affair – retro, with anything cohesive yet. But that may soon change. Spend some time scouring the portfolio section of CarDesignNews and you’ll notice a lot of hot talent coming from Russia and Eastern Europe. The most interesting aspect is that a lot of these portfolios look to share a new emerging aesthetic. It’s futuristic, uses bold geometric shapes, and explores new proportions. Here’s the work of three guys that caught our eye. Misha Kilmov, Andrey Basmoanov, and Gabrial Nemeth. It looks as though Ford may already be experimenting with this a little this year with the Airstream.
