We took a swipe at Reveries, the grand-daddy of trend spotting newsletters, for suggesting this guy and his mum were Britain’s equivalent to Oprah (and her book club). ‘Are you serious?‘ we chuckled. Well, turns out we were wrong. The Independent says:
Of the top 100 best-selling titles last year, 21 were by authors discussed on the Richard & Judy Book Club, including Kate Mosse’s Labyrinth, at No 1, and Victoria Hislop’s The Island, which took second place in the 2006 sales league.
Ok, ok. So we got one thing wrong in 4,000 posts… but on a serious note, doesn’t this news indicate that in this world of anytime anywhere information, we still need people to guide us?
