I've never tried using PayPal; that seems like far too many steps. I have a card on file with iTunes and when I click "Buy Song," all I need do is enter my account password. The rest takes care of itself.

Stick with the intern posting non-DRM files on the server. That works best, methinks.

For the most part, it works. However, I have had some trouble downloading once the purchase is made and their customer service is terrible. I have not tried the PayPal process…I do not like PayPal.

I never had any trouble with iTunes but gas stations ask for a zip code when using a credit or debit card, think it is going to be a standard security check now.
BTW, DRM can stripped without even leaving iTunes, just two extra steps.
I do agree that PayPal sucks, that is why I dropped it three years ago.

I don't buy much from iTunes, but when I do, it's quick and easy with credit card.

Customer service has been good to. I had trouble downloading a gifted song, and they sent me a credit to download the song again. Turns out, the problem was actually on my end.

Kudos to Apple.

The title of your article indicates that the sky is falling at iTunes!

I have been buying music (also audiobooks, videos, films etc. ) from iTunes Online Store as soon as they became available. That is for quite sometime.

I haven't had any trouble either with my debit card or my credit card!

I don't use PayPal, as it is another link that can go wrong between me and Apple's iTunes Store.

The problem must be at your end. You may want to make sure that the information (address etc.) with your credit card company, your credit card statement and your real/correct address are exactly identical (redundant use of english to bring out the fact that computers are dumb).

Haven’t had drastic problems on that. BUT find it really very annoying that you have to pay the same price for really old albums. Which is why, aside from the occasional purchase on iTunes, I’m going to stick to 3-for-2 bargains and other special offers in music STORES.

Never had any problem. My credit card is stored in iTunes Stores vaults somewhere, and I just click “Buy Song,” type in my password, and the song downloads. Simple as pie.

As much as an apple fan I am; and as much as a music fan I am- I have never bought a song over iTunes, even though I own 2000+ cd’s, have 200gig’s of encoded music and have no real objection to DL’ing and swapping music.. the issue lies in the crappy itunes encoding.. if I pay for a song, I want the song, not some 128kbs image of a song with the midrange and highs erased.. listening to MP3’s is just plain evil.. (less evil if they are encoded properly…) at lest give us the option of D/L higher bitrate versions.. not everybody likes to listen to 128kbs crap.
