Our New York style correspondent Orli Sharaby found some strong opinions coming from the Matthew Williamson show-
‘Matthew Williamson, the cutie British designer of Pucci fame, showed his FW07 collection at NY Fashion Week in Bryant Park on Sunday night, and boy did it get a negative reaction! Rachel Michaela of Style Bites came up to me right after the show with a look of disgust and horror on her face. The Fug Girls of NYMag.com called the collection “screamingly garish” and “tragic.”
Am I the only one who absolutely, wholeheartedly adored it? With a few exceptions (like his huge, high-waisted puke-brown pants), his proportions, shapes, and colors were all beautiful and new. I loved the lush fabrics – satin, velvet, knits – and the great burnt oranges, apple greens, and aubergines. I’m glad he’s kept short shorts around, loved the flouncy, cape-like hooded coats, and thought the disco gold-black combos were rockin’. So, what do you think? Love it or hate it?’
