Techno turns Textile
Jeff Mills, regarded as a legendary techno producer and dj, is venturing into the clothing business. Along with partner Yoko Uozumi (who heads Mills AXIS record label) the new endeavor called Gamma Player is opening soon on hip Division Street in Chicago.
The shop will offer a handpicked collection featuring brands such as Gilles Rosier from Paris, Firma from Berlin, Bils from Turkey and Yoshiko Creation, from Tokyo. Items have also been created exclusively for the Wicker Park boutique through the relationship Gamma Players’ owners have developed worldwide.
Each season, the experience of Gamma Player will change to reflect the collection of new and emerging European brands. Clothing items range from haute couture to ready-to-wear pieces for men and women. This season, the boutique reflects The Universe by Night – a philosophical approach to ones perspective on light and darkness. In addition, there will be an Axis compilation offering for the opening, reflecting this season’s catalogue. The Universe By Night CD includes tracks taken from various projects and albums of Jeff Mills’ material and never before released tracks in the US.
Gamma Player opens March 15 and is located at 2035 West Division.
