Department store chain Galeries Lafayette is expanding into the middle east with plans to open a 192,000 square foot store in Dubai, bringing Parisian chic to a wider audience. According to WWD, ‘The French retailer has signed a deal that
would make it the anchor tenant of the future Dubai Mall, a 3.4
million-square-foot complex — billed as the world’s largest shopping
and entertainment destination — scheduled to open by late 2008′. Also keen to tap into the growing Asian market, Galeries is looking into several possiblities including ventures in Shanghai and Macao.
