New and Improved Marthastewart.com

By Allison Mooney on March 21, 2007

Marthastewart.com just relaunched with a lot more content—and
Martha is content.

The new incarnation has “over 5,000 recipes, 700 how to videos, crafts, wedding and party
planning,” according to an email from Martha Stewart Living’s Director of Marketing.  This DIY dreamland was compiled from over 15 years of Martha’s magazine and website articles. (Searching
the site, we found 3175 results for “napkin folding.)" The best part is that “both
Martha and our CEO Susan really like the site.” Phew.

Plans for a social networking app were announced last year and projected for early 2007 but have yet to be
realized (the email says later this year). Indeed, SNS elements such as profiles, blogs and other personalization options are becoming part of many websites, but magazine sites have been slower on integrating these components. We have seen them start to fully integrate other Web 2.0 features such as blogs and video though. And speaking of blogs,
Marthastewart.com drew some buzz from the launch of its Blueprint site and blog
a couple weeks ago.

The biggest boon to Marthastewart.com would be if M. Diddy herself got a blog. And really, if a Girl Scout cookie can get a MySpace profile, it can’t be long…
