Mobile Technology’s Impact On Developing Nations

Mobile Technology’s Impact On Developing Nations

By Piers Fawkes on March 15, 2007

Jan Chipchase is a Principal Researcher at Nokia. He conducts exploratory human behavioural field research at Nokia Research Center splitting his time between running user studies and developing new applications, services and products that we may be using 3 to 15 years from now. On his Nokia page, Jan has listed a number of presentations he’s given at places like TED and Always On.

Some of you might remember the BBC video on the impact of the mobile phone on Africa’s economy. What stands out for us is how enthusiastic Jan is about the impact of technology on developing countries. His presentations cover tropics such as Street Charging Services in Kampala and the Village Phone in Uganda.
