Psfk Conference London-4

OK, guys – over 200 of you have already registered your interest in attending the PSFK Conference in London on 1st June. The location we have penciled is the Gallery above Imagination. It’s very nice but it’s a little small – about 150 seats.

2 lessons learned from NYC was that (a) only a third of pre-registered buy tickets and (b) we sold/allocated about 300 tickets for the conference but only 200 turned up.

So would love some thoughts from you guys. Here are ours.

Negative: Less seats means greater risk to achieve break-even which means higher ticket prices. The ticket costs are likely to be a first come first served allocation at 100 Pounds, a later allocation at 300 Pounds and a final allocation at 500 Pounds. The less seats the less 100 Pound tickets we can sell to early registrants (aka friends of PSFK).

Positive: Maybe we’re not going to sell as many tickets in the UK/Europe so that’s ok.

Positive: Maybe it’s nice to have a smaller, intimate venue that’s associated with a leading innovation company.

Just to help you: some folk who have indicated they would talk on the day include Russell Davies and Regine Batty.

Thoughts please? Thanks.

  1. Small is beautiful…

  2. Small is nice, break even is important. But as this is the first of hopefully a series of events in London and Europe this is also a brand-building thing. You might have to invest some money. Next time will be different. Proof has to be given that the conference will be cool and attract many interesting people. then the next conference will build up on this and you’ll get the revenue you deserve.

if you need any help on finding sponsors etc.. let me know!

  3. You still have a bit of time to go before this happens so it may be that even more people will find out about it and sign up. I guess for it’s all about finding a real point of difference for your conference rather than any other, because there are loads and Russell talks at lots of them. What’s going to be different about this one? Can we think of a hook that is bigger than simply the speakers?
Afraid that I didn’t answer your actual question though, sorry!

  4. I’m interested in attending this event. It sounds really interesting and I’ll probably be in London for an internship this summer.
