Amateur Created CGI Productions

There’s an interesting thread here on the above CGI clip, apparently produced by an amateur group in Italy called Cee-Gee.The debate’s centered around the future of amateur CGI content. Obviously the animation production quality is there, but how can the amateur market raise the level of quality of other components like voice acting and script?

Could a collective like Cee Gee be animating the next "Happiness Factory," or the next  "Honda – Grrr?"

Inspiration to make things better.

  1. A big part of the problem is that the communities aren’t very well integrated. I spend quite a bit of time on a CG forum and a fair amount of time on an indy film forum. The problem is, other than me, I don’t see anyone else in both. The CG people have their blinders on, and the film people have theirs on.

What we’ve not yet seen is the kind of community (like the videogame mod scene) that facilitates a truly diverse mix of talent.

When the two communities finally hook up (and I suspect they will at some point), the overall quality will rise imo.
