About the Speaker:
Kevin Slavin is the Managing Director and co-Founder of area/code. He has worked in communications for technology-based clients for 13 years, including IBM, Compaq, Dell, TiVo, Time/Warner Cable, Microsoft, Wild Tangent and Qwest Wireless. For five years, Kevin was the Vice President, Digital Markets, at SS+K in New York; Previously, he served in similar roles at Chiat/Day and DDB.
Together with Frank Lantz, Slavin founded area/code in 2005, building Big Games and cross-media entertainment. Area/code works directly with clients including Nokia, Walt Disney Imagineering, New Line Cinema and A&E Networks, and agencies including JWT, Cramer-Krasselt, Grey, BBDO, SS+K, Beam, Weber-Shandwick, and CEG. Since 2006, CAA has represented area/code.
Slavin teaches Urban Computing with Adam Greenfield at NYU/ITP, lectures frequently, and has written for various publications on games and game culture. His work has received honors from the Clios, the AIGA, the One Show, and the Art Directors Club, and he has exhibited internationally, including the Frankfurt Museum fuer Moderne Kunst.
