UK Operators Cut VOIP From Nokia N95

Recently we wondered what happened to the WiFi mobile phone – maybe its disappearance has something to do with how network operators are deleting the function from VOIP enabled phones like the Nokia N95.

Right on schedule, Britain’s mobile operators are yanking the VoIP capabilities out of the new Nokia N95, according to several sites. Despite being one of the top-selling phone straight out of the gates, and despite advertising VoIP capabilities via its Wi-Fi connection, Vodafone and Orange have disabled VoIP, saying its confusing to consumers.

  1. Most people wont care about losing VOIP, but there is bound to be the usual Nokia firmware available for download which will effectively reinstate this function and remove any network idents.
