Limited Edition New York offers you a chance to Save the Planet One T-shirt at a Time

by Amanda Gore (PSFK London)

Launched during last February’s NY Fashion Week, Limited Edition New York is a fashion initiative offering yet another form of limited edition purchasing with a conscience. The self-proclaimed humanitarian trade show utilises the talents of high profile designers and fashion celebrities to create ranges that will raise money for an annually appointed charity, starting this year with Al Gore’s The Climate Project.

‘LENY, aims at raising a maximum of funds for The Climate Project. At a time
when the future of our planet is not only in question but in urgency to react,
we must act quickly and together.  Design voices have a huge impact on
collective consciousness. By launching this exclusive event, shared by leading
design houses, LENY  wants to establish a direct link between fashion and
environmental protection.’

As part of the venture, organiser Mariel Gamboa recruited twelve fashion icons to each design an eco-themed t-shirt to be sold in limited runs of 500 each at an impressive list of top global boutiques including fashion.psfk favourites Colette in Paris, Harvey Nichols in London and Luisa Via Roma in Florence. Muse and model Margherita Missoni, French Vogue’s formidable editor Carine Roitfeld, designer and party girl Jade Jagger, and supreme icon Kate Moss are among the names who have lent their design skills to the planet-saving project, so expect empty rails pretty quickly. The t-shirts go on sale within the next couple of weeks, with all proceeds going directly to save the environment. If you feel like a bit of guilt-free shopping, check out our favourites below-
