The Londonist has a fun little interview with two people who have set up a table on Brick Lane offering advice to those who cross their path in exchange for £1. After the advice is given, customers are given a lollipop and a typewritten piece of paper detailing the advice given. The couple’s rationale for setting up the booth was because they thought London was a difficult place to maintain friends whom you can confide in and setting up the booth might help create a stronger sense of community.

Londoners are about 10 years too late. New York had the Advice Ladies dispensing advice from a table on a sidewalk in Soho in the 1990s.

Late Schmate. It’s a great idea, does it really matter if something similar was done somewhere else sometime? I don’t not drink coffee because I’m aware someone had a cup in New York in the 1990s, and I’d like to think the Advice Booth kids are capable of making the same smart decision…
Anyway, the real point here is that the Advice Booth is great. Morgan and Debbie are funny, charming and insightful, and their typed advice is very sweet and frame-friendly.
