Our fashion.psfk writer Jonas E Pelli spots a little disappointment around Kate Moss Day at TopShop in London:

Kate Moss’ collection for Top Shop, "inspired" by her heron-rock chic attire, turned out to be a huge disappointment. The Sun reported that Topshop  had said nothing had sold out. Kate, 33, was paid £3million to create the 50-piece collection.
So much for the hype.  The queues, apparently, were massive towards the
beginning of the day, but quickly fizzled when excited tweens realized,
well, it was still Top Shop, quality construction and exquisite design
features aren’t fortes of the brand.

Despite the bummed out crowds, some industrious fashionistas made a killing in resale.  Ebay is a hype munching machine, and several items fetched quite lofty prices.  Stateside fashion icon collaborations seem to be faring a bit better; long live the queen.

However, looks as if the market is starting to get saturated by all these celebrity collaborations.  Lines are getting shorter and shorter; people are getting sick of the same stuff with a different name sewn into the label.  Hate to see celebrity names overshadowing the young designer collaborations; Uniqlo’s been coming at the trend from the design front, giving much deserved exposure to real talent.
